Bobby Elliot (Scottish Qualifications Authority) explored the assessment of online writing in general and the assessment of online discussions in particular. He presented a review of the current literature relating to the assessment of online discussions, and critically evaluates the rubrics currently used to grade student contributions. He concluded by outlining best practice in the construction of such rubrics.
